James Newell Osterberg Jr., known as Iggy, is an American singer, songwriter and actor born April 21, 1947 in Muskegon, Michigan.
He is considered one of the most influential artists in rock history. His group The Stooges (active from 1967 to 1974 then from 2003 to 2013) is one of the precursors of the movement, with three major albums: The Stooges, Fun House, Raw Power.
Iggy Pop is also known for his wild and impressive stage acting, combining acrobatics, nudity, swearing and sometimes self-harm. Nicknamed "The Iguana" and referred to as The Godfather of Punk, he was one of the rare artists who emerged in the 1960s to have been "spared" by the punk wave of the late 1960s. 1970s.
Some of his best-known tracks with the Stooges include I Wanna Be Your Dog and Search and Destroy.
